a typical sight- it rains often and people like to shield themselves from even the smallest sprinkles of rain. they will use umbrellas (yu san), plastic raincoats, and/or plastic bags. I usually don't use am umbrella unless the rain is heavy, but my host family insists that I have something covering my head when theres any rain

at Xi Hu, West Lake, its so beautiful and calming

a typical school lunch- yes, that is an octopus. the Chinese students are very fond of octopus and squid. It doesn't taste bad to me, but most of my American classmates didn't like it

Xi Hu at night- on one side the city lights up, and on the other you can see mountains and traditional temples

Making Jiao zi's (dumplings) as our culture activity! After we made them all the chefs boiled them and served them to us!
The host siblings were invited to make jiao zi's with us. this is my host sister and I with our handmade dumplings!

West Lake is just breathtaking

there were pagodas all around the lake

Gabrielle, one of my classmates, and I walking around the lake

meet Dodo- the cutest dog ever!

a Chinese breakfast- Chinese buns, apple slices (they skin every fruit because the fruits can be really dirty on the outside), some sort of sweet egg soup, and coffee.

breakfast with my host sister, Wang Zhe. we had pao fu (cream puffs), you bing (fried dough twist), the sweet egg soup, and fruit.
